Tipped as a gripping love-and-action drama, Dacoit stars Adivi Sesh and Mrunal Thakur and marks the directorial debut of cinematographer Shaniel Deo. Acclaimed filmmaker Anurag Kashyap played a key role.
Adivi Sesh’s rugged look
At its core, Dacoit is being branded as a film that is centred around love and robbery. While the romantic element is intertwined in the narrative, the film is more like an action drama with an interesting edge. Sesh’s role features multiple shades which seems to have the audiences on the edge-of-the-seat. The actor’s rugged look, conman act and Madanapalle slang seem natural and authentic. It adds a strong sense of realism and local flavour to the role. The actor’s complex character is smart, manipulative, yet an emotionally wounded criminal. This gives the film a different dimension. The fact that he had to convey a lot of emotions through eyes is challenging. This teaser has arrived a day after Sesh’s birthday (Wednesday, November 17).
Nagarjuna’s reference
Interestingly, the teaser has a Nagarjuana’s reference. It features the remixed version of Nagarjuna’s yesteryear blockbuster song Kanne Pettaro from the film Hello Brother (1994). Nagarjuna shared screen with three heroines in the original version. But we have to wait and see whether the song is part of the narrative in Dacoit or just used for the teaser cut. Mrunal Thakur adds emotional depth to the narrative. This is the first time she will be seen in an action-oriented role in Telugu. Her three earlier outings, Sita Ramam, The Family Star and Hi Nanna, showcase her as the girl next door. The makers of Dacoit have opted to make a dual-language film, shooting the film simultaneously in Telugu and Hindi. Adivi Sesh stated that they wanted to maintain the emotional integrity and nuances of the performance, hence they shot simultaneously rather than dubbing. Also Read: In Pictures: Mrunal Thakur Shoots for Adivi Sesh’s Dacoit。
